Juneau International Airport Murals
Alison Bremner | Interior latex paint | Approximately 10' x 10' each | Permanent installation, Juneau International Airport, Juneau, Alaska | Commission, City and Borough of Juneau | 2022
Two site-specific murals created for the Juneau International Airport by Tlingit artist Alison Bremner. The first mural features Juneau icons familiar to locals and visitors alike: Romeo the glacier wolf, the Mount Roberts Tramway, Patsy Ann the famous bull terrier, the whale statue, float planes, helicopters, and rain boots. A second mural (not pictured) features the Grumpsicle, a Juneau original holiday icon, alongside local wildlife including moose and squirrel. Hidden throughout are small Easter eggs, including the Belgian waffles that the old Juneau International Airport used to serve that Bremner enjoyed as a child.
